Meet the Team: Electrical Manager, Johnny B
Johnny joined the Sutton Brothers team in May, 2023 as the Manager of our newly formed Electrical team. Jim and Jack, the Sutton Brothers, had been discussing adding electrical services to the company services portfolio and knew they had found the right person to lead that team when they interviewed Johnny! He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our company and an attitude of “getting the job done in the right and safe way.”
Johnny began his electrical career in 2001 as a “helper” for a local Triad electrical company. He learned the trade for two years at this company and then moved on to spend almost 11 years at another electrical company where he quickly progressed from “helper” to “lead man.” In 2014, he decided to venture out on his own and started his own company. Business was booming for his company and then, in 2021, COVID hit and his business unfortunately experienced a significant slowdown. Johnny joined Guilford County as an electrical inspector and then in 2022 joined another HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical company that was subsequently bought out by a large corporation. This buyout resulted in changes to certain business practices that Johnny was not comfortable with, so he began to look for a locally owned and operated company and landed at Sutton Brothers! A win/win for both! He appreciates the atmosphere Jack and Jim have created, their open-door policy and the fact that they don’t meddle in how he manages his team.
Johnny is the proud dad of 3 children who are 21, 15 and 10. His 21-year-old son is the manager of a roofing company in Myrtle Beach. Both of his younger children have been involved in rodeo activities, with his 10-year-old son on the bull riding circuit. His daughter and younger son both started their rodeo careers with “mutton busting”. Johnny says their weekends are consumed with rodeos! His 10-year-old has qualified for rodeo finals in Texas later this year and possibly a premier rodeo event in Utah! In their spare time, which is limited, the family is involved in a 2-year renovation project for their home. And Johnny does try to get in “a little” fishing in when he as a minute or two!
Jack and Jim Sutton are honored to have employees like Johnny as part of their team! He epitomizes their motto “do the right thing, always!
